Life Update!

Hey guys, I know it has been a long time since I’ve updated this blog, and it isn’t even like I can say it’s due to having nothing to write about – because I do! In actual fact, I have plenty to tell you guys.

So as you all know, I planned to shave my head for Macmillan and I did that a few weeks ago. I’m not going to go into too much detail about it on this post as I will be posting about my head shave experience soon. I am also incredibly proud to say that after many years of failing at the first hurdle, I have actually kept to one of my New Years Resolutions: I have been meat free for almost 2 months! I have wanted to be a vegetarian for a long time, (I blame Morrissey) and now I can at last say I’m there. Since I decided to stop eating meat I have genuinely not looked back once and I feel much healthier for it.

The other big news is this: me and my partner have finally moved into our own home! It’s really been a long time coming, as we have been looking for our a place to call our first home for about a year, and I have to say we have really fallen on our feet with our first flat (or apartment, if that’s what you prefer to call it).

Overall, since the viewing of the property, it has taken a month to get in and settled, mainly because the previous tenants had to move out, get the place sorted and whatnot. Basically a lot of formalities on both sides needed to be dealt with, and I have to be honest that was becoming tiresome to say the very least. I had a right mare trying to get my Right To Rent documents in time, but we finally did it.

On our move in day I went to work barely able to contain my excitement. We signed our tenancy at 11am that morning, but afterwards the day at work dragged, and to be honest I was a bag of nerves after for some reason. It was raining heavily when work finished at 9pm that night, and all I wanted was to be out of the soaking cold. Of course, me and Sean did the traditional thing when moving to a new home – we had a takeaway. I mean, come on – it’s just gotta be done, right? That night there was nothing in the flat, not a bed or sofa to lie down on. There was literally a wooden chair and nothing more, as our things were being delivered the following morning. That went smoother than I thought. Moving on…

Lucky me getting the weekend off so I could unpack and get us settled in. That does however mean I am currently working two weeks without a day off. Yes, you read that right. Two whole weeks without time to chill. Kill me now please! On the plus side, I now have a beautiful apartment, so working all those hours is definitely worth it. Having my own personal space has put a lot of things into perspective for me. I’ve been working hard to improve my career, but I’ve also come to realise that there is more to life than just work. Since moving into my new home I’ve realised I want to do so much more with my blog, too!

I love this room already! It’s like a little nerd paradise, as you can see Sean has put a lot of his gaming memorabilia in here, which really brings out a sense of his character to the room. At the moment it still feels a little bare as we definitely need to get some curtains asap!

At first, I was struggling to settle in at the apartment. Yes, it was now my home but it wasn’t feeling like it. I kept struggling to sleep at night, for fear of intruders (and by intruders I kinda mean… ghosts..) which may have been due is being burgled in our previous home. We have now been living here for just over a week and now the mass of cardboard boxes have gone I feel totally comfortable at last!

Moving into my new home is going to open so many doors for me in the future, and everything is finally falling into place.

Keep checking back for more from me, as I’ve already mentioned I’m working out a schedule so I can post more frequently. Until then I hope you guys have a great week! Xoxo
