4 Ways To Wear Makeup WITHOUT Foundation

So I have to admit that this week has been a weird one for me. On Saturday I was contacted by a photographer who who wants to do a shoot with me today for a headphone company! How exciting! I have wanted to do something like this for years so now an opportunity has come up I am over the moon!

However I have had only a week to prepare for my first experience in front of a camera – this including what I’m going to wear, what makeup I’m going to do… SO MANY DECISIONS! Sure, I’ve had plenty of experience taking a selfie or two (but c’mon guys, everyone has) but this time I’m not going to be taking the picture. I’m not going to be the one who is deciding what expression I should have, so I decided I at least need to look my best.

This week I’m going free of full face makeup. That’s right, you read that correctly. I am making sure my skin is great for my photoshoot, so I thought I would share with you guys what makeup I do when I’m trying to feel good about myself and look after my skin at the same time. This also got me thinking about people who choose to not wear foundation at all, and how they create unique looks.

#1 – Winged with gentle eyeshadow

This is a really simple look that I’ve created using only a few pieces of makeup. Of course, I still like to have dramatic eyes so I thought I would add winged eyeliner to this look. I think that because the eyeshadow colours are not too harsh, this eye makeup isn’t out of place against my natural skin, and it adds definition to my eyelids so my eyes appear bigger.

#2 – Bold brows and bold lips

Apparently there is a rule that you can’t draw too much attention to your lips with makeup if you’re already making a statement with your eyes. While I don’t usually go by this rule when I’m wearing full face makeup I thought I would try it this week, as a quick and easy look for work. I always have bold eyebrows because they shape your face, but I’ve gone easy on my eyes with just mascara and a matte eyeshadow. On my lips I’m wearing a pink matte lipstick.

#3 – Metallic Minimalist

This look is harsher than the two above, yet I haven’t used any contouring or foundation at all. When I created this look I was thinking about how some people prefer to not use foundation at all, and how a smokey eye would be done. Again I haven’t been too bright with my lipstick. If you wanted to do this makeup for a night out then why not add winged liner for a more dramtic effect.

#4 – Naked

I think this is my favourite of the looks I’ve done this week without foundation. My brows are a fluffy and full yet not over the top, my eyes look brighter and bigger due to using a light matte eyeshadow and I haven’t used any lipstick at all. Because I’ve really used mascara to make my eyes stand out without being colourful, you can use whatever lipstick you lije with this look.

So those are the styles of easy makeup I’ve been wearing this week, I hope you all enjoyed reading about them. If you try them out then please let me know what you think by leaving me a comment! Also, I’ll be writing soon about my first photoshoot!

See you next week! Xoxo

    • Aw thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the post! I love doing a full face of makeup but sometimes it’s nice to just go natural and enjoy healthy skin. It really helped me out this week trying to get better skin. And I totally agree, the natural look is suitable for just about any occasion too!
